Where's the Damn Music
Posted on DECEMBER 21, 2022 inMusic
As an Avenged Sevenfold fan for over a decade, I've followed their journey through every album, tour, and side project. But lately, I can't help but feel like the band is losing sight of what brought them success in the first place: their music.
First, there was the cancellation of the European tour, which was a huge disappointment for fans who were eagerly anticipating the chance to see the band perform live. Then, there was the Quarantine Challenge, which, while well-intentioned, felt like a lackluster substitute for the music we were all craving. And now, the band is diving into the world of NFTs with their new project "Deathbats Club."
It seems like the band is more focused on trying new things and making headlines than actually producing new music. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for experimentation and trying new things, but it feels like the band is forgetting what made them so beloved in the first place: their musical talent and passion. I understand the excitement and potential profit in the NFT market, but it feels like a distraction from what truly matters.
I know I'm not alone in feeling frustrated with the band's recent endeavors. In fact, I've noticed many fans are losing interest and moving on to other bands. It's a shame to see the once-devoted fanbase slowly dwindling, but it's not surprising given the lack of new music and tour cancellations.
I just hope that the band will eventually return their focus to what made them so successful in the first place: their music. Fans want to hear new songs and experience the energy of a live performance. If the band continues to prioritize NFTs and other endeavors over their music, I fear that the fans who have been with them from the beginning will eventually move on.
